  VISIT CAMP BANDRO

How to get there
From Antananarivo you need to go to Ambatondrazaka first. From there you can take your own transportation or a Taxi Brousse from Ambatondrazaka which takes around 45 Minutes and costs 2'000 Ariary. Currently the road is under repair, so access to Andreba should be ensured.

Housing
Once you arrive in Andreba Gare a welcome sign at the marketplace will tell you were to turn to. Somebody will then guide you to Camp Bandro at the boarder of the village and close to the lake. A room with two beds costs 10'000 Ariary a night. Note that at the moment there are only two rooms, so you might want to make a reservation. There is also a camping facility which is 5'000 Ariary per night and tent.
There is no restaurant in Andreba but a little market and two Epiceries. But for 10’000 Ariary a cook will buy food and cook you lunch or dinner. There is also the possibility to order breakfast for very little money.

What you can do and see
In order to see the Alaotra gentle lemur, the Bandro, you will have to book a pirogue. A guided boat tour on the lake and into the Bandro Park costs 10’000 Ariary per pirogue (1,5 – 2 hours, max. 2 persons per boat). During the tour you will also have the possibility to observe the many birds of Lake Alaotra.
You will have to get up early as the Bandro is best seen at dawn. But to experience daybreak on Lake Alaotra is well worth it, as the atmosphere is very quite and peacefull at this time of day. Note that there might be an entry fee to the Bandro Park of 10’000 Ariary which has to be paid to a community association.
