NGO'S
African Bird Club
African Bird Club has been established to provide a worldwide
focus for African ornithology and to encourage an interest in
the conservation of the birds of the region. Madagascar is one
of the regions it covers. It also supports small conservation
projects in Africa.

ACF is a UK-registered educational not for profit foundation which
provides in-depth information from their project network as well
as conservation databases, interactive knowledge base & discussion
forums and many other resources. ACF is supporting NGOs and Conservation

of ICT, GIS and Remote Sensing.

Birdlife International is a global Parnership of conservation
organisations. The aims are to prevent the extinction of any bird

Blue Ventures
Blue Ventures is an award winning UK-based not-for-profit
organisation dedicated to facilitating projects that enhance global
coral reef conservation and research. Its research programmes
are aimed at exploring ways to promote the sustainable use of
tropical marine and coastal resources. Blue Ventures' work in
the village of Andavadoaka, SW Madagascar, aims to improve the
quality of life of the local community by protecting environmental
and cultural heritage and increasing local people's income.

The GGA is an organization committed to promote interest in gekkonids
in a variety of ways, from responsible captive care, to study

ideas.

IUCN (The World Conservation Union)
This is the principle international conservation organization
with headquarters in Switzerland. It has both nations and conservation
groups as members. It is particularly relevant to lemur conservation
because the IUCN's 1994 Red List of Threatened Animals. The IUCN
also has its international Species Survival Commission. This group
has SSC Specialist Groups including of particular relevance to
the DUPC: the Conservation Breeding Specialist Group and its Primate
Specialist Group.

Madagascar Ankizy Fund
Madagascar Ankizy Fund (MAF) is a small NGO which goals are to
build schools and clinics in remote areas of Madagascar. MAF was
started by paleontologist Dr. David W. Krause, a professor in
the Department of Anatomical Sciences at the State University
of New York at Stony Brook. Dr. Krause, as well as various colleagues
and students involved in paleontological research in Madagascar,
are committed to improving life for Malagasy children by providing
tools for learning and basic health care.
